Whether you’re shopping for a brand-new Kia or a certified pre-owned model in Richmond, you’ll no doubt be looking to find out about the Kia warranty and the kind of coverage it includes. Warranties generally help save you money on necessary maintenance and repairs, so they are important to consider when purchasing a vehicle. Read on to learn about the details and benefits of Kia’s 10-year/100,000-mile warranty program.
Kia Warranty Coverage
The Kia manufacturer warranty program is available for all models, 2008 and newer. It includes the Kia Bumper-to-Bumper Warranty, as well as the following warranties:
- 5-year/60,000-mile New Vehicle Limited Warranty
- 5-year/100,000-mile Limited Anti-Perforation Warranty
- 5-year/60,000-mile Roadside Assistance
Kia Powertrain Warranty Coverage
Kia’s 10-year/100,000-mile Powertrain Limited Warranty offers industry-leading coverage to protect your vehicle’s essential components. The Powertrain Limited Warranty is applicable to the original purchaser and purchaser of a Certified Pre-Owned Kia, and begins upon the expiration of the 5-year/60,000-mile Basic Limited Warranty, covering your Kia up to 10 years or 100,000 miles from the date of first service, whichever comes first. It applies to essential components of the engine, transmission, axles, differentials, and propeller shafts, including internal parts, seals, gaskets, and key assemblies.
Kia EV System Warranty
Kia’s EV System Warranty safeguards key components of your electric drivetrain, including the electric motor, high voltage battery, electric power control unit (EPCU), and on-board charger (OBC), for 10 years or 100,000 miles from the date of first service, whichever comes first.
Kia’s Battery Coverage ensures your vehicle’s battery maintains its capacity and efficiency over time, covering capacity loss below 70% of the original capacity for 10 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. Repairs or replacements restore the battery to at least 70% capacity.
Kia Warranty Benefits
Travel confidently knowing you’re covered by Kia’s 5-year/60,000-mile Roadside Assistance. Roadside Assistance is provided on all new 2025 model Kia Vehicles from the date the vehicle is delivered to the first retail buyer for a period of 60 months or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first, and includes the following:
• Towing to the nearest authorized Kia dealer or an alternative service location in the event of a warranty-related disablement
• Out of gas assistance
• Flat tire assistance
• Jump start assistance
• Lock-out assistance
If you’re less than 150 miles from home, and you experience a warranty-covered disablement of your Kia requiring longer than 24 hours to fix, Kia provides reasonable reimbursement for a rental car, lodging, and/or meals.
Is a Used Kia Covered Under Warranty?
Traditional used Kia models aren’t covered by a Kia manufacturer warranty or Kia powertrain warranty. However, explore our certified pre-owned Kia models, and you can enjoy thoroughly inspected and refurbished used Kia models with an extended Kia warranty and a host of other perks. Certified pre-owned models undergo a 164-point inspection to ensure like-new quality. They come equipped with a Kia powertrain warranty, 10 years of roadside assistance, trip-interruption services, and so much more!
Is the Kia Warranty Transferable?
Can you transfer a Kia warranty to a second owner? Or, if you’re a second owner, can you enjoy the benefits of a pre-existing Kia manufacturer warranty or Kia powertrain warranty? Are Kia warranties transferrable? If you’re buying or selling a Kia vehicle during its warranty period, you might be wondering whether your Kia warranty coverage is transferable to the new owner. The following Kia warranties are fully transferable:
- 5-year/100,000-mile Limited anti-perforation warranty
- 5-year/60,000-mile Limited basic warranty
- 5-year/60,000-mile Roadside assistance plan
As for the 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty, please note that it is transferrable. However, it’s redesignated as a 5-year/60,000-mile Kia warranty for the second owner.
